Composed in 1950, Arnold Schoenberg's Erste Psalm ("First Psalm"), Op. 50a, was one of the final works he completed and sets a deeply personal German text written by the composer himself. Combining his mature twelve-tone style with an intense expression of faith and spiritual searching, the work stands as a powerful culmination of Schoenberg's lifelong exploration of music, religion, and identity.
